PREPARE FOR YOUR EXAM

Unless otherwise directed, we ask all patients to arrive 15 minutes prior to their appointment.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give our office as much notice as possible.

MRI

 

Allow approximately 1 hour for the exam. Wear comfortable, metal free clothing for your exam. Do not wear excessive make-up, bobby pins, watches, jewelry, hearing aids, metal devices, etc. All patients may take medications. Some exams may include injecting contrast material into your veins.

Contrast studies only: If you are age 60 and over, or are Diabetic, you must have blood labs drawn (within 30 days) to measure your Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) and Creatinine. We will contact your referring doctor to have your blood labs ordered, if necessary.

 

Exam: Required Prep:
  • Non-Contrast Exams:
No Prep Required.
  • Contrast Exams:
Drink plenty of water to hydrate.
  • MRCP:
No food or drink after midnight the night before the study.

Allow approximately 15-30 minute for the exam. Wear comfortable, metal free clothing for your exam. Some exams may include injecting contrast material into your veins.

Contrast Exams: No solid foods 4 hours prior to exam.
ULTRASOUND

Please allow 30 minutes to 1 hour for all ultrasound exams.

Exam: Required Prep:
  • Pelvic
  • Pelvic with endovaginal
  • Retroperitoneal (to include kidneys, aorta, IVC and bladder
Drink 24 ounces of water 1 hour before your appointment time. Please arrive with a very full bladder. Do not use restroom prior to study.
Complete Abdominal (e.g. liver, gallbladder, aorta, pancreas, spleen) Do not eat or drink anything 6 hours prior to your exam including smoking or chewing gum. You may take your medication as prescribed.

  • Breast (right) (left) or (bilat)
  • Scrotal w/limited Doppler
  • Thyroid, Soft-Tissue Neck
  • Venous Extremity (right) (left) or (bilat)
No Prep Required.
X-RAY

Generally, there is no prep required for Diagnostic X-Ray.
